Melissa joined Cause Capacity in 2025 as a Recruiting Specialist. As a seasoned recruiting professional with over 20 years of experience, primarily within the non-profit sector, she has held several leadership roles in talent acquisition, earning recognition for her ability to innovate and drive meaningful progress in recruitment practices.
Melissa is highly experienced in the full-cycle recruitment process, with a comprehensive understanding of every stage, from sourcing and attracting top talent to screening, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding. Her expertise also includes building effective hiring processes, implementing best practices, fostering strong partnerships with hiring managers, and ensuring legally compliant recruitment processes to meet organizational and regulatory standards.
Throughout her career, Melissa has been recognized for her collaborative approach and strategic mindset, which have led to her involvement in several cross-functional projects focused on talent management initiatives. These opportunities have allowed her to develop and implement impactful strategies that enhance organizational success.
Earlier in her career, Melissa also worked in Panama and Spain in the private sector, where she gained invaluable experience working in diverse environments. These roles shaped her global perspective and deep understanding of diverse workforce dynamics. She later moved to the United States, where she has spent most of her career in the non-profit sector, working in New York City for a large, nationally recognized organization. This experience allowed her to deepen her expertise in recruiting while contributing to mission-driven initiatives with lasting impact.
Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, Melissa leverages her language skills to effectively connect with diverse candidates and teams, further enriching her ability to foster inclusive hiring practices.
Melissa is also known for her ability to create and deliver engaging and impactful training content on recruitment topics, including best practices, compliance, and recruitment law. Her training sessions have earned her praise for their ability to captivate and empower audiences while delivering actionable insights.
Melissa lives in Connecticut with her two children. In her free time, she enjoys reading, particularly historical fiction and history-focused books. She also enjoys baking and exploring new destinations. Traveling is one of her greatest passions.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Universidad Santa María La Antigua in Panama and a master’s degree in Strategic Human Resources Management from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Spain.
